About Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
Located around 48 km from Guwahati, Pobitora is a wildlife haven spread across 38 sq. km. Despite its compact size, it boasts over 100 one-horned rhinoceroses, making it one of the best places to spot them in the wild. The sanctuary also shelters wild boars, leopards, Asiatic buffaloes, and over 200 species of birds.
For pilgrims visiting Kamakhya Temple, Pobitora offers a beautiful way to connect with nature after a spiritual experience. The peaceful drive through rural Assam and the magical sunrise or sunset over the grasslands make this trip truly memorable.
Jeep & Elephant Safari Experience
The main attraction at Pobitora is the safari ride:
Jeep Safari: A 1–2 hour ride through the core area, covering grasslands and wetlands. Ideal for families and groups.
Elephant Safari: Early morning rides for a closer and more serene experience with rhinos.
Safaris are best done during the early morning or late afternoon to catch animals in their most active hours.
